Ondr & Burmester Set Pace for Bentley at NE10 Championships

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Junior Nick Ondr (Ozark, Mo./Glendale HS) and freshman Caitlin Burmester (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin HS) were the top finishers for the Bentley University men's and women's cross country teams Sunday during the Northeast-10 Conference Championships at Saint Anselm College.

Ondr finished 23rd overall as he covered the 8,000-meter course in 27:17, an improvement of more than three minutes from when he ran the same course last month. The 6,000-meter women's championships saw Burmester finish 31st in 24:37. That was an improvement of 40 seconds from when she ran the course during the Shacklette Invitational Sept. 11.

The number two runner for the Bentley men was freshman Sam Capobianco (North Reading/Philips Andover Acad.), who was 39th in 28:01. Junior Brice Tolan (Abington/Abington HS) was next, with his 28:30 good for 54th.

Freshman Lauren Joseph (Coventry, R.I./Coventry HS) was second for the Falcon women as she was three places and 19 seconds back of Burmester. The top 50 also included Bentley senior Samantha Bilodeau (New Ipswich, N.H./Mascenic Reg. HS), who was 45th in 25:25.

Both Bentley teams finished ninth, an improvement of one place from the coaches pre-championship poll, with the same point total (252). The women were only seven back of seventh place and the men were 14th out of eighth.

American International was a double winner. The Yellow Jackets edged Southern Connecticut State, 28-38, for the men's championship, and ended Stonehill's 12-year reign as NE10 women's champion, 40-52.

AIC went 1-2 in both races with Ezra Mutai the men's champion by exactly a minute and Fransiscah Cherolich the women's by 24 seconds.

Bentley's next competition is the NCAA Division II East Regional in Rochester, N.Y. Nov. 6.
