Led by Freshmen, Bentley Women Finish 4th of 10 in Suffolk Short Course Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. –  With two freshmen the Falcons' top finishers, the Bentley University women's cross country team finished fourth among ten teams in the Suffolk Short Course Invitational at Franklin Park Friday afternoon.

Freshmen Lauren Joseph (Coventry, R.I./ Coventry HS) and Caitlin Burmester (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin HS) reached the finish in 16th and 17th place, respectively, with all 15 runners in front of them from Harvard or Brown.

Joseph covered the 3,000-meter course in 12:08 and Burmester was right behind her in 12:12.

Bentley's number three runner was senior captain Samantha Bilodeau (New Ipswich, N.H./Mascenic Reg. HS). She was 27th overall in 12:36.

Brown's Emily Kompelien edged teammate Katherine Dokholyan by a second for first, with an 11:07.

Bentley posted a team score of 118, finishing behind Brown (17), Harvard (45) and the University of New England (104) in the ten-team field.

Next Saturday, the Falcons will be at Saint Anselm College for the Shacklette Invitational.
