Dooley Named Northeast-10 Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following a conference-best sixth-place finish in the New England Championships on Sunday, Bentley University sophomore Tara Dooley (Lee/Lee HS) has been named the Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference. It's the second time this season and the third time in her career that she's been so honored.

Dooley covered the 5,000-meter course at Westfield's Stanley Park in 17:37.92 with her sixth-place finish the best ever recorded by a Bentley woman in the annual meet that includes runners from all three divisions.

Dooley, who finished second in both the Northeast-10 Championships and NCAA Division II East Regional last fall, improved on her finish from last year's New Englands by 22 places. It's the second straight year that she's been the top Division II runner in the race.

Earning a spot on the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll were Bentley seniors Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS) and Rob Dextradeur (Branford, Conn./Branford HS). Dextradeur earned All-New England honors by placing 14th overall and fourth among NE-10 athletes. His time over the 8,000-meter course was 24:45.87. Fahey was the number four NE-10 woman and 31st overall, with a time of 18:07.60.

Dooley, Dextradeur and the rest of their Bentley teammates will take this coming weekend off in preparation for the Northeast-10 Championships on Oct. 20.
