Bentley heads to New York for NE10 Semifinals

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley volleyball team heads to Garden City, N.Y. for the Northeast-10 Semifinals hosted by Adelphi Friday, Nov. 17. Bentley, the #3 seed, takes on #2 New Haven at 7:30 p.m.

The Falcons outlasted #6 St. Anselm in five sets during a NE10 quarterfinal bout in Waltham Tuesday this week. Ellie Wheeler put away a season-high 19 kills, and Elizabeth Blinn came away with five blocks. Ingrid Murphy notched her third consecutive double-double by totaling 12 kills and 14 digs.

This will be the third meeting this season between Bentley and New Haven. During the Sandy Hoffman Memorial Tournament (Sept. 8), the Falcons came back from a two-set deficit to top the Chargers in five sets (non-conference). Murphy had a team-high 16 kills, while Wheeler and Blinn added 12 and 10, respectively.

Six weeks later, New Haven snapped Bentley's 14-match winning streak with a four-set conference win in Connecticut. Wheeler came up with 14 kills, and Rachel Vitko finished with 12. The Falcons hit .182 in that contest, but the Chargers attacked at a .343 clip.

Murphy and Wheeler were named to the All-NE10 First Team earlier this week. Murphy is a First Team honoree for the second consecutive season, and Wheeler is a First Team selection for the third straight year. Bentley's Joey Pacis was named the Sandy Hoffman NE10 Coach of the Year.

The other NE10 Semifinal match is between #1 Adelphi and #5 Southern New Hampshire.

The NE10 Tournament Championship match is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 18.
