GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Ellie Wheeler put away 17 kills, but the Bentley volleyball team lost a tough five-set match at Adelphi Saturday night (25-15, 20-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-12).
The battle between two of the top three teams in the Northeast-10 lived up to expectations, as the Falcons and Panthers swapped each of the first four sets. Adelphi narrowly won the decisive fifth set, 15-12.
Wheeler's 17 kills stand as her second-best total this season (18 at Assumption, Oct. 31). She has 15 or more kills in six matches this season.
Three other Falcons put up double digit kills at Adelphi: Ingrid Murphy (12), Rachel Vitko (11), Elizabeth Blinn (11). Natalie Thom had a team-high 25 assists, and Jazzy Burke led the Falcons in digs with 23.
Bentley concludes its regular season at Pace Saturday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m.
