Volleyball Sweeps Southern N.H. for 5th Straight Victory

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley volleyball swept Southern New Hampshire by scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-17 in a non-conference match for its fifth straight victory on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons improved to 9-3 on the season with NE10 matches set to begin this week. These teams will meet again on Tuesday, with the location switched to Manchester, N.H., in a NE10 matchup.

Bentley hit .303 as a team with a .361 hitting percentage in the second set.

Ellie Wheeler led the way with 15 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Natalie Thom had a season-high 26 assists.

Elizabeth Blinn was a force in the middle with three solo blocks and three block assists.

Bentley led the opening set by as much as five points but SNHU closed to within 23-21. But Ingrid Murphy came up with kills on the final two points to give Bentley the set 25-21.

The Falcons fell behind early in the second set 4-0 but a 5-0 run put them in front. They steadily built the lead up to five points on three different occasions, the last of which was 21-16. SNHU closed to within 22-20 but Bentley closed strong.

Wheeler produced a kill to make it 23-20 and an ace by Jazzy Burke gave them set point. SNHU stayed alive on the next point, but Blinn followed with a kill on the ensuing point to finish the set.

Wheeler and Murphy powered the attack in the third set with five and four kills, respectively. The set was close to start with a 10-10 tie, but a 13-6 Bentley run put them within touching distance of the victory. The final two points were kills by Wheeler to secure the win.
