Volleyball Sweeps Past Dominican (N.Y.) and Seton Hill on Opening Day in Florida

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Bentley volleyball got its 2023 season off to a winning start with a pair of 3-0 victories over Dominican (N.Y.) and Seton Hill on Friday at the Sharks Invitational, hosted by Nova Southeastern.

In the first match, the Falcons defeated Dominican 25-13, 25-12 and 25-15. They put 18 aces past the Chargers, tying the most the team has had in a match since 2005.

Senior setter Natalie Thom led the way with six and graduate outside hitter Ingrid Murphy notched six.

Thom also had a match-high 14 assists.

Murphy led the way with nine kills and she hit .353. Junior Rachel Vitko had seven kills and senior Ellie Wheeler had five and a .455 hitting percentage.

In the second match against Seton Hill the Falcons won it by scores of 25-17, 25-15 and 25-13.

Murphy, Wheeler and Vitko each had nine kills. Thom notched 20 assists and freshman Lauren Hallas also had a big match with 16 assists.

Elizabeth Blinn and Caitlin Wunder also made their presence felt, as Blinn had six block assists and Wunder four.

Bentley will conclude the Sharks Invitational on Saturday when they take on Eckerd at 3:00 PM and Nova Southeastern at 7:30 PM.
