Vitko & Blinn Impress as Bentley Stays Unbeaten at Home, 3-0 over Assumption

WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore Rachel Vitko (Dover, N.H./Dover HS) hit .308 with ten kills and freshman Elizabeth Blinn (Concord, N.H./Concord HS) turned in her best performance as a collegian as Bentley University stayed unbeaten at home with a 3-0 win over Assumption University in Northeast-10 Conference volleyball Thursday night at the Dana Center.

Blin finished the 25-20, 25-17, 25-16 victory with eight kills, five blocks and a .538 hitting percentage, all career-bests.

Bentley improved to 11-0 at home, 17-5 overall and 6-1 in the NE10 with its 11th victory in its last 13 matches. Following their 14th straight set victory of the season, the Falcons are 14-2 against NCAA Division II East Region competition.

Coach Joey Pacis' team, which had 11 aces and eight blocks, closed out each set with an impressive run. It was 11-5 in the first, 13-5 in the second and 11-6 in the clincher.

Blinn had four kills in as many swings in the first, along with three blocks. Vitko put down six kills in nine attacks in the second, and both players had four kills in the third set.

Junior Ellie Wheeler (Olathe, Kans./Olathe HS) amassed a career-best seven blocks in addition to recording six kills, and graduate setter Amanda Parker (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North HS) filled the stat sheet with 20 assists, four aces, four kills and eight digs.

Bentley hit 31 percent in each of the final two sets while Assumption (1-10, 1-6 NE10) finished with a .082 hitting percentage.

The next match for the Falcons is Oct. 21 against New Haven.
