Bentley Swept on Senior Day as AIC Wins 14th Straight

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Freshman Paola Soto-Burgess (Coamo, P.R.) and grad student Andrea Serra-Rosa (Toa Alta, P.R.) combined for 34 kills and only one error to lead American International College to a 3-0 win over Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference women's college volleyball Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center.

The Yellow Jackets, who are ranked second in the region, sandwiched a 25-14 second set victory around 25-21 scores in the first and third. AIC improved to 22-6 overall and 9-2 NE10.

Bentley, ranked seventh in the NCAA Division II East Region this week, dropped its third straight to fall to 13-11 overall and 8-4 NE10.

Soto-Burgess finished with 17 kills and a .533 hitting percentage while Serra matched her in kills and hit .459. Serra completed her double-double with 10 digs.

For the Falcons on Senior Day, junior Ingrid Murphy (Cotuit/Barnstable HS) had another strong effort with 12 kills, 14 digs and two aces. Senior setter Amanda Parker (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North HS) had 33 assists, and sophomore Ellie Wheeler (Olathe, Kans./Saint James Academy) put down 11 kills.

Bentley started the first and third sets in a strong way, leading the opener 13-9 and the third 11-6, but was unable to maintain control.

AIC hit 43 percent behind the setting of sophomore Naomi Eckert-Rivera (Toa Baja, P.R.), who assisted on 42 of 50 kills.

Bentley will close out the regular season next Saturday at New Haven.
