Ngo Powers Bentley to 3-1 Win over Le Moyne; Falcons Improve to 7-1 NE10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Shannon Ngo (San Rafael, Calif./Terra Linda HS) hit .632 with 14 kills and also made four blocks as Bentley University claimed a 3-1 victory over Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center. The scores were 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-23.

Bentley, with its fifth consecutive victory, improved to 12-7 overall and 7-1 Northeast-10. The Falcons remained in second place in the NE10, a game back of New Haven.  Le Moyne fell to 3-12 overall and 1-6 conference.

After a lackluster opening set and a slow start to the second, Bentley closed the pivotal third with an 11-2 run. That flurry included four kills from sophomore Ellie Wheeler (Olathe, Kans./Saint James Academy) and two aces from senior setter Amanda Parker (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North HS).

In the third, after the Dolphins cut a 22-15 Bentley advantage to one point, a block from Wheeler and junior Katie Rounds (McFarland, Wis./McFarland HS) provided set point.

Le Moyne also staged a late rally in the fourth, battling from 19-12 down to forge a 23-all deadlock.  A kill by sophomore Rachel Vitko (Dover, N.H./Dover HS) put Bentley back in front and a bad set by the Dolphins ended the match.

Wheeler led Bentley in kills with 13 and Rounds put down nine with a .333 hitting percentage. Parker finished with 33 assists, 10 digs and two aces.

Emily LaRuffa (Rock Hill, N.Y.) led Le Moyne with 13 kills.

Bentley will be on the road for its next three matches, beginning Friday at Adelphi.
