Wheeler, Grabmeier Help Bentley to 5th Win in Last 6 Matches, 3-0 at St. Michael’s

COLCHESTER, Vt. – Sophomore Ellie Wheeler (Olathe, Kans./Saint James Academy) hit .303 with 15 kills and classmate Angie Grabmeier (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton HS) served five of her team's 13 aces as Bentley University swept St. Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball at the Ross Sports Center Saturday afternoon. Scores were 25-22, 25-19 and 25-18.

Bentley, 7-6 overall and 3-0 NE10, completed its third straight 3-0 win by scoring the final four points of the third set. Sophomore Maddy Kelley (Fitchburg, Wis./Verona Area HS) had a kill, Grabmeier delivered back-to-back aces and Caitlin Wunder (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy), yet another sophomore, made the kill for match point.

There were only eight lead changes in the match, all but one coming in the third set. The Falcons took their final lead of the match at 12-11 on a shared block by grad student Claudia Gonzalez-Iquina (Ponce, P.R.) and freshman Rachel Vitko (Dover, N.H./Dover HS).

Senior setter Amanda Parker (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North HS) had 15 assists for Bentley in the opening set, and Grabmeier led the Falcons with 12 digs.

Service aces accounted for a big difference in the match with Bentley having ten more than St Michael's (1-5, 0-3 NE10), 13-3.

The next match for Bentley is Tuesday at Franklin Pierce.
