Bentley Begins Bid for 10th Northeast-10 Volleyball Championship Tuesday

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University Falcons will begin their bid for a record tenth Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball championship Tuesday night against the same team it finished the regular season with, American International College.

The two teams will square off for the second time in four days at the Dana Center, with the first serve scheduled for 7 pm. Live video will be available at www.bentleyfalcons.tv.

In Saturday's match, the Falcons prevailed in four sets to close out the regular season at 18-9 overall, 15-6 against East Region teams and 11-3 in the NE-10. Senior Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./ Rocky Mountain HS) led the way with 14 kills, junior Ashley Latimer (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Croton-Harmon HS) hit .571 with nine kills, junior Allie Rotkin (Cumming, Ga./Milton HS) distributed 38 assists and senior Jessica Segal (West Harrison, N.Y./Harrison HS) made 25 digs.

Bentley will enter the conference championships as the third seed while AIC, 13-12 overall and 7-7 NE-10, is the number six seed. The Yellow Jackets have dropped their last three after winning their previous five.

Segal, ten digs away from 500 for the season, is one of three Falcons who have appeared in all 96 sets coach Joey Pacis' team has played this fall. The others are junior outside hitter Shannon Kelly (Hyde Park, N.Y./Franklin D. Roosevelt HS) and sophomore defensive specialist Celia Cristofoli (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson HS). Buscher, nine kills shy of 300, has played in all but one, as has senior middle Shelby Kreienberg (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon HS).

In Tuesday's other quarterfinal match-ups, eighth-seeded Southern New Hampshire is at regular season and defending champion Adelphi, seventh-seeded New Haven is in New Hampshire to take on number two Franklin Pierce, and fourth-seeded Le Moyne is hosting in-state rival Le Moyne.

The highest surviving seed will host the semifinals and championship Friday and Saturday.
