Bentley Volleyball to Hold Both Dig Lavender & Senior Night on Friday

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University women's volleyball team will hold its annual "Dig Lavender" Night Friday when the Falcons host the University of New Haven at 7:30 pm. It will also be the team's Senior Night contest.

Lavender is the color ribbon for all rare cancers that don't have their own, including Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma that the late and legendary Bentley volleyball coach, Sandy Hoffman, fought courageously until her passing August 31. Funding for rare cancer research is very limited and there are few doctors who care for such uncommon diseases.

T-shirts will be available for purchase, and donations will be collected at the door.

Checks can be made out to the Dana Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Institute and sent to Bentley Volleyball, 175 Forest Street, Waltham, Mass. 02452. Contributions can also be made online by visiting the website, www.myjimmyfundpage.org/give/adrenalcancer.

Prior to the important match, Bentley will also recognize the team's four seniors, all of whom have played key roles in this year's team posting a 16-8 overall record thus far. They are Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain HS), Shelby Kreienberg (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon HS), Stephanie Metzger (Georgetown, Texas/Liberty Hill HS) and Jessica Segal (West Harrison, N.Y./ Harrison HS).

Segal and Metzger are this year's captains, Buscher is 15 digs away from having both 900 kills and 900 digs during her career, and Kreienberg has also had a solid senior year.

Bentley, in this week's NCAA Division II East Region rankings, was number eight, immediately back of New Haven.
