Buscher & Tator Selected for Academic All-Northeast-10 Volleyball Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University volleyball standouts Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain HS) and Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School), both second-team All-Conference honorees, were both voted to the 2014 Academic All-Northeast-10 women's volleyball team.

It's the second time that Buscher, a junior outside hitter, has been recognized and the first for Tator, a three-year captain and senior setter.

Buscher led the Falcons in kills (2.58 per set) and was second in digs (2.85), a combination of numbers no Bentley player had achieved since 2007. An honorable mention AVCA Division II All-East selection, she was one of only eight players in the 15-team conference to average both 2.5 kills and 2.5 digs.  Her 2014 season included 10 double-doubles and three matches with at least 20 kills, including 22 in a 3-2 win at New Haven that snapped the Chargers' 94-match regular season NE-10 winning streak.

Buscher will enter her senior year with career totals of 661 kills, 672 digs and 85 blocks. Should she duplicate her 2014 performance, she'll exceed 900 in both career kills and digs next fall.

Tator finished her third year as Bentley's primary setter just 13 assists shy of 3,000 career, ranking five in program history. She averaged 8.66 assists, 2.04 digs, 0.45 kills and 0.34 aces during her final collegiate season.

Tator, who had 57 assists in the afore-mentioned win over New Haven, finished fourth in the NE-10 in total assists and seventh in average assists.

Buscher, in addition to leading Bentley on the court, has been exceptional in the classroom with a sparkling 3.91 GPA while majoring in both economics-finance and liberal studies. Each of her first five Bentley semesters has seen her make the President's List. Tator, a management major with a marketing minor, owns a GPA over 3.3 and has been involved in a number of community service efforts throughout her college career.

Bentley, during the 2014 season, tied for the Northeast-10 regular season championship, played in the conference championship game and reached the semifinals of the NCAA Division II East Regional.
