WALTHAM, Mass. – For the first time since 2009 and the 12th time in program history, the Bentley University Falcons will be competing in the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championships.

Bentley, 18-11, received an at-large bid and will be the number four seed in the East Regional, which will be hosted by the University of Bridgeport Thursday through Saturday.

There will be no shortage of motivation for the Falcons in Thursday's opening round as they've been paired with fifth-seeded Adelphi University (16-14), the team that denied Bentley Saturday evening in the Northeast-10 championship match. The Falcons were a point away from the title twice in the fifth set before the Panthers prevailed, 17-15.

Automatic qualifiers were Adelphi (Northeast-10), Bridgeport (East Coast Conference) and Post University (Central Atlantic Collegiate) with the rest of the field including at-large selections University of New Haven, Stonehill College, LIU Post and The College of Saint Rose.

The Bentley-Adelphi winner will meet the survivor of the Bridgeport-Post match, and the other half of the bracket has New Haven playing Saint Rose and Stonehill taking on LIU Post.

Bentley's 12 appearances is the third most of any East Region program, trailing only New Haven (29) and Dowling (17).

While it will be the first NCAA trip for anyone on the current roster, acting head coach Joey Pacis has been there before, in 2007 and 2008 while the head coach at Merrimack College.
