Dominguez Powers Bentley to 3-0 Sweep of Le Moyne

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior middle blocker Savannah Dominguez (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS), the Northeast-10 Conference leader in hitting percentage, had another impressive outing as she hit .480 with 16 kills to power Bentley University to a three-set sweep of Le Moyne College in women's college volleyball Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Court. The scores were 25-22, 25-20 and 25-15.

Bentley closed out the regular season at 17-9 overall and 11-3 overall, good for a tie for second place. The Falcons will be the third seed in the upcoming conference playoffs and will host a quarterfinal match Tuesday evening.

Eight of Dominguez' kills came in the opening set as she was the focus of the Falcon offense early. Of those five came during a closing 9-5 burst after the Dolphins grabbed a brief lead at 17-16.

She was also a contributor in the second set, particularly after Bentley fell behind 16-13. Her kill launched a 7-0 run and she served the final six points, five of which came on Falcon kills, including two apiece from junior Simone Silvera (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook HS) and sophomore Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain HS).

Bentley scored the first three points of the third set, used a 7-0 spurt to break it open at 18-6 and closed out the match with a Buscher kill.

Buscher followed Dominguez in kills with nine, and Silvera amassed six in only nine swings. Junior Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School) recorded 33 assists and ten digs, and classmate Lauren Colasanti (Northville, Mich./Northville HS) had a team-best 11 digs.

Freshman Andrea Buchanan had ten kills for Le Moyne, which finished its season at 9-17 overall and 3-11 NE-10.
