Five Set to Join Bentley Volleyball Team in the Fall

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University women's volleyball coach Sandy Hoffman has announced her recruiting class of 2012.  Three of the five new Falcons are from west of the Mississippi and the other two are from New York.

Joining the Bentley volleyball team will be Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain HS), Shelby Kreienberg (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon HS), Stephanie Metzger (Georgetown, Texas/ Liberty Hill HS), Kyana Miller (San Diego, Calif./Canyon Crest Acad.) and Jessica Segal (West Harrison, N.Y./Harrison HS).

Buscher is a 5-foot-10 outside hitter who plays for the Juggernaut Volleyball Club. She was her high school team's MVP and a 2011 Jefferson County All-Conference selection.

Kreienberg, a 6-foot-2 right side, earned second-team All-County honors for the Vikings and also played for the Paradigm Volleyball Club.

Metzger, a 5-foot-11 outside hitter, played with the Texas Eclipse Volleyball Club in addition to Liberty Hill High. She was a two-time first-team All-District selection as well as a team captain and Academic All-State honoree.

Miller, who plays for the Coast Volleyball Club, is a 5-foot-9 setter who was a two-time All-League and first-team All-CIF Division 3 selection. It's not the first time that Hoffman has gone to San Diego for a setter as Tori Piskulick '09, out of Scripps Ranch High, is Bentley's all-time leader in assists.

Segal, a 5-foot-7 defensive specialist, is a member of the Downstate Volleyball Club. She was her conference's Player of the Year the last two years after leading the Huskies to two Section 1 championships and twice earned Class A All-State honors, third team in 2011 and second team in 2010.

With the addition of these five, Bentley's 2012 roster will include players from ten different states. Seven of the 16 are from west of the Mississippi and three others reside at least 1,000 miles from campus.

Bentley will open its season with a tournament at Wilmington College (Del.) Sept. 7-8.
