Dominguez, Buckner Lead Bentley Past Southern New Hampshire, 3-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman Savannah Dominguez (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS) hit at a .600 success rate with 12 kills and classmate Kelsey Buckner (San Marino, Calif./San Marino HS) posted her 11th double-double of the season as Bentley University topped Southern New Hampshire University, 3-1, in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Tuesday night at the Dana Center.

Bentley opened the match by taking the first two sets in convincing fashion, 25-19 and 25-17.  The Falcons had the lead from the opening point in both, scoring seven of the first eight points in the first and jumping out to a 10-1 advantage in the second.

Bentley also started fast in the third set, building leads of 8-2 and 16-9 as it attempted to close out the visitors in three. However, the Penmen dominated the second half of the set, finishing with a 14-3 surge to prevail 25-20 and force a fourth set.

SNHU had the early advantage in the fourth, 7-2, but this time, it was the Falcons who battled from behind. A 6-1 flurry tied the set at eight apiece, and Bentley took the lead for good at 12-11, in the midst of nine straight points, with Buckner serving the final eight.  Buckner's match-high 13th kill finished the night, giving Bentley the fourth set, 25-19, and the 3-1 win.

Dominguez, one of four Falcons with at least 11 kills, didn't have an error among her 20 attacks, and also had a three-ace, four-block night. Buckner, who hit .385 en route to her 13 kills, also had four aces and 13 digs.

Freshman Kaleigh Sullivan (Victor, N.Y./Harley School) provided a career-high 12 kills off the bench, and junior Grace Conner (Santa Barbara, Calif./San Marcos HS) made 11 kills. Most of the kills were from sets by freshman Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School), who finished with 46 assists, two shy of her career-best.

Freshman Lauren Colasanti (Northville, Mich./Northville HS) led the Falcons with 14 digs and also served three aces.  As a team, Bentley had 12 service aces and hit .261 overall, including .400 in the final set.

Senior Danielle Coffey (Westborough) led SNHU with 10 kills and nine blocks.

Bentley snapped a four-match slide and will take records of 12-14 overall and 7-7 NE-10 into Friday night's regular season finale against the University of New Haven.
