Buckner Helps Bentley Top Georgian Court, 3-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman outside hitter Kelsey Buckner (San Marino, Calif./San Marino HS) had a team-best 11 kills and three service aces as Bentley University registered a 3-1 victory over Georgian Court University Friday night in the Bentley Invitational Volleyball Tournament at the Dana Center.

With the 25-14, 25-18, 18-25, 25-14 victory, the Falcons evened their record at 4-4.  Georgian Court fell to 4-6 on the season.

Buckner hit .333 and had just one hitting error in 30 swings. The remainder of the Falcons' 38 kills were divided between eight different players with junior Grace Conner (Santa Barbara, Calif./San Marcos HS) and freshmen Savannah Dominguez (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS) and Tatiana Froehlich (Newton/Newton North HS) each responsible for five.

Conner shined on defense with seven blocks, and the Falcons also received solid efforts from freshmen Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School) and Lauren Colasanti (Northville, Mich./ Northville HS). Tator finished with 30 assists from her setter position, and Colasanti provided four aces and 11 digs.

Junior Amy Berry (Bayville, N.J.) played well for Georgian Court, with 16 kills and a .357 hitting percentage. The Lions also received 22 assists and 12 digs from red-shirt freshman Francheska Cedras (Carolina, P.R).
