Mee Helps Bentley Top Saint Rose to Clinch NE-10 Playoff Berth

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Senior setter Kelly Mee (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock North HS) filled the stat sheet with 39 assists, nine digs, four aces, three kills and two blocks, helping Bentley University to a 3-1 win over the College of Saint Rose in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Friday night at the Dana Center. Scores were 25-18, 20-25, 25-23 and 25-18.

Bentley, with its sixth win in its last eight matches, clinched a spot in the upcoming NE-10 playoffs while improving to 16-13 overall and 9-5 in the NE-10. The Falcons are currently tied for sixth, but won't know where they will be seeded until after Saturday's action, with the slate including Le Moyne visiting the Dana Center for a 1 pm match.

Senior Andrea Farah (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS) and freshman Ashley Ahearn (Marshfield/ Marshfield HS) were on the receiving end of most of Mee's assists, finishing with 15 and 13 kills respectively.

Bentley started fast, scoring the match's first five points, with senior Alaura Berry (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo HS) putting down a pair of kills and Mee serving her first ace.  After Saint Rose came back in the second set, Bentley used another 5-0 spurt to take control of the third set, opening a 15-11 lead. The Golden Knights pulled within one late, but kills by Berry and Farah gave the Falcons a 2-1 edge in the match.

The Falcons were never threatened in the final set of the night, jumping out to an 8-2 advantage and extending that to 18-8.

In addition to the performances already mentioned, Bentley received nine kills from senior Morgan O'Laughlin (Hollister, Calif./San Benito HS), 24 digs from senior Maitlyn Kraft (New Braunfels, Texas/St. Mary's Hall) and four blocks from Berry.

Saint Rose (6-20, 3-11) received 11 kills from sophomore Kaleigh Quinn (Wilton, Conn.) and six aces and five blocks from freshman Alex Gagliano (Cornwall, N.Y.).

Saturday's match with Le Moyne will close out the regular season and be the final home appearance for the team's five seniors.
