Ahearn Puts Down 15 Kills, but Bentley Falls to SNHU in Four

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Despite a career-best 15 kills from freshman Ashley Ahearn (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield HS), Bentley University fell to Southern New Hampshire University, 3-1, in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Wednesday evening at the SNHU Fieldhouse. Scores were 25-17, 22-25, 27-25 and 25-18.

The Penmen, who improved to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in the conference, took the opening set easily after jumping out to a 12-4 start and nearly overcame a 10-2 deficit in the second set.

The turning point of the match came in the third when the Falcons couldn't get the set-ending point after leading 24-21 and 25-23.  A Penmen run of seven straight points in the fourth gave SNHU a 19-13 lead and they went on to close out the match, hitting a lofty .448 in the final set.

Freshman Megan Lescynski (Pine Bush, N.Y.) and sophomore Lauren Lorenz (Frankfort, Ill.) both registered double-doubles for Southern New Hampshire, and senior Stephanie Dluginski (Floral Park, N.Y.) also had a strong match with 11 kills and four blocks.  Lescynski provided 12 kills and 10 digs, and Lorenz registered 37 assists, 10 digs and three aces.

Ahearn, the only Falcon with double figures in kills, hit .355 en route to her 15 kills. Senior Andrea Farah (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS) had nine kills, classmate Kelly Mee (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock North HS) set 34 assists and Maitlyn Kraft (New Braunfels, Texas/St. Mary's Hall) made 16 digs.

Bentley is back in action this weekend, competing in the Palm Beach Atlantic Pepsi Bash at the Beach in Florida.
