WEST HAVEN, Conn. -- Senior outside hitter Andrea Farah (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS) averaged 2.7 kills and 2.0 digs, but the Bentley University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-0 decisions on Saturday as it opened its season at the University of New Haven Invitational at Charger Gymnasium.

The Falcons fell to Caldwell College (27-25, 25-15, 25-21) in its 2010 debut Saturday morning and dropped to 0-2 with a 25-13, 28-26, 25-15 loss to the University of Bridgeport in their second match of the day.

Against Caldwell, Farah led the way with 11 kills and nine digs. Senior outside hitter Morgan O'Laughlin (Hollister, Calif./San Benito HS) hit .462 with seven kills, and senior setter Kelly Mee (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock North HS) recorded 26 assists for the Falcons.

The Cougars (1-1) received strong hitting performances from both Susan McDonough and Amber Mosher, along with 30 assists and nine digs from setter Lauren Roth. McDonough finished with 13 kills, a .455 hitting percentage and 11 digs, and Mosher swung at a .421 success rate with 10 kills.

Agatha Baliddava (Jinja, Uganda) and Ivana Kovacevic-Jurasin (Belgrade, Serbia) powered 2-0 Bridgeport to the victory. Baliddava posted 16 kills and a .318 hitting percentage and Kovacevic-Jurasin's numbers included .346 with 12 kills. Junior Tamara Leite (Natal, Brazil) set them up with 34 assists.

For Bentley, Mee had 27 assists and sophomore Bridget Lawson (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West HS) hit .500 with seven kills.

Bentley will open its Northeast-10 Conference schedule on Tuesday with a 7 pm match at Assumption.
