Bentley Track Competes in Merrimack Track Carnival

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Junior Ryan Dennehy (Andover/Andover HS) and freshmen Damien Garcia (Providence, R.I./St. George's School) and HaiLian Rowan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland HS) were among the top performers for the Bentley University outdoor track and field teams during the Merrimack College Track Carnival Wednesday and Thursday at the Doane Stadium.

Dennehy improved on his personal best in the 100 meters by two-hundredths of a second while placing tenth of 36 in 11.44 seconds. Also in the 100, sophomore Isaiah Decias (Ozone Park, N.Y./Hudson Catholic HS) was 15th in 11.57.

Garcia was third of ten in the javelin, which was contested at UMass-Lowell on Wednesday. His throw of 167 feet, 10 inches was good for fifth on the Northeast-10 Conference performance list. Right behind Garcia in fourth was junior Nick Luther (Groton, Conn./Marine Science Magnet School), with a throw of 157'9".

Rowan was seventh of 22 in the women's 100 with her clocking of 13.03 seconds a PR by 0.08 seconds.

Freshman Casey O'Connor (North Reading/North Reading HS) was fifth among 14 competitors in the hammer throw following a distance of 135 feet, six inches.

Competing in the meet along with the Falcons were Assumption University and former Northeast-10 Conference members Merrimack, Stonehill College and UMass-Lowell.

On Saturday, Bentley will have a split squad with student-athletes competing in both the Jim Sheehan Invitational  at Fitchburg State and the Triton Invitational at California State-San Diego.
