Davies Breaks School Record in Heptathlon, Finishes 2nd in NE10 Championships

EASTON, Mass. – Bentley University senior Chase Davies (Marblehead/Marblehead HS) broke her own school record, amassing 3,963 points while finishing second in the heptathlon at the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at Stonehill College's W.B. Mason Stadium.

Davies, who bettered the record she set while taking first in the heptathlon at last year's championships by 112 points, trailed only Tori Allen of Southern New Hampshire. Allen's winning total was 4,246 points.

During the second day of the heptathlon, Davies jumped 15'6" in the long jump, threw the javelin 82'1" and ran the 800 meters in 2:48.90.

Davies also finished fifth in the 100 hurdles with her time of 14.73 seconds second best in program history, trailing only the school record of 14.64 she set a week ago.

Also scoring for Bentley on Saturday were senior Samantha Bilodeau (New Ipswich, N.H./Mascenic Reg. HS) and freshman Caitlin Burmester (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin HS).

Bilodeau was sixth in the steeplechase, finishing in 12:04.24, and Burmester's 2:24.32 put her eighth in the 800.

Bentley scored 23 points during the two-day championships, finishing in ninth place.

Southern New Hampshire ran away with the team championship, finishing 45.5 points ahead of runner-up American International with 174.5.

Next weekend, selected members of the Bentley team will be at Bryant University for the New England Championships.
