Bilodeau, Ambroult Post Winning Performances at Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Senior Samantha Bilodeau (New Ipswich, N.H./Mascenic Reg. HS) and sophomore Lucy Ambroult (Holbrook/Holbrook HS) turned in winning performances while competing for the Bentley University women's outdoor track and field team during the outdoor season-opening Bridgewater State Bears Invitational Saturday.

Bilodeau outran a field of 20 in the 5,000 meters with her time of 18:47.04 elevating her to 12th on Bentley's all-time list. She won the race by nearly ten full seconds over Merrimack's Sarah Tierney.

Ambroult was awarded first among 52 competitors in the 100 meters although her official time was unavailable due to a timing malfunction. She was also first, among 24, in the long jump with her distance of 18 feet, 2.5 inches a new personal best by six and a quarter inches. It was good for fourth on Bentley's all-time list.

Ambroult was also 10th of 62 in the 200 (28.27) and part of the Falcons' 4x100 relay team that was third of 12 in 51.16. That foursome also included senior Chase Davies (Marblehead/Marblehead HS), junior Hannah Greene (Weston, Conn./Weston HS) and freshman Evie Houston (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Acad.).

Davies' day included second of 11 in the 400 hurdles, with her 1:12.64 tenth best in program history, and third of 28 in the 100 hurdles (15.85). Greene, fourth of 22 in the high jump, cleared 5'1.75", the fourth best performance in Bentley annals.

Freshman Caitlin Burmester (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin HS) ran on the outdoor track for the first time as a collegian and finished sixth of 63 in the 1500 (5:03.73).

Senior Megan Niedzwiecki (Old Orchard Beach, Maine/Old Orchard Beach HS) was eighth in the shot put (30'2") and 14th of 41 in the discus (86'2").

Next Friday and Saturday, Bentley will be at the Bryant Invitational.
