Davies Shatters School Record, Finishes 2nd in NE10 Pentathlon

BOSTON, Mass. – Bentley University senior Chase Davies (Marblehead/ Marblehead HS) added the pentathlon record to her collection while finishing second in the event Thursday during Day 1 of the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Davies totaled 2,850 points to break the school record set by Kayla Fraser at the same meet in 2020 by 380 points. She ran the 60 meter hurdles in 9.16 seconds, cleared a personal best 4'10.25" in the high jump, threw the shot 26'11.75", posted a distance of 15'3.25" in the long jump and ran the 800 in 247.19. Davies finished behind only American International's Raven-Symone Jarrett by 357 points.               

Davies' afternoon also included qualifying for Friday's finals in the 60 hurdles with a 9.21. She was fourth of 14 in the prelims.

Sophomore Lucy Ambroult (Holbrook/Holbrook HS) was the bronze medal winner in the long jump with her distance of 17'11.5" nearly a foot further than her career best and third best in program history. Ambroult also posted PRs in both the 60 meter dash (8.17) and the 200 (26.75). Both of those were good for sixth on the program's all-time list. She placed 14th of 23 in the 60 and 14th of 22 in the 200.

Freshman Caitlin Burmester (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin HS) was fifth of 15 and qualified for the finals in the 800. In the trials, she was fifth of 15 with a 2:22.75.

In the team standings, Bentley is 7th among 11 teams with 14 points.

Friday's action gets underway at noon.
