Hurwitz & Maselli Recognized for Academics by CoSIDA & NE10
WALTHAM, Mass. – Recent Bentley University graduates Sydney Hurwitz (Newton/ Newton North HS) and Peter Maselli (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson HS) have both been recognized for their success in track and field and in the classroom by the College Sports Information Directors of America and the Northeast-10 Conference.
Each was voted to the CoSIDA Division II Academic All-District 1 team as well as the Academic All-Northeast-10 track and field teams.
Both will now advance to the national ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America consideration.
Hurwitz was the 2021 Northeast-10 outdoor champion in the long jump, with a distance of 17 feet, 9.5 inches, and sixth in the conference championships in the 100 meter hurdles (15.28 seconds). She earned USTFCCCA Division II All-East honors in the long jump and is a former school record holder in the 100 hurdles and the indoor 60 hurdles.
A five-time qualifier for the President's List, Hurwitz achieved a 3.71 grade point average as an actuarial science major. She was involved in the Math Club and the Student Alumni Leadership Club.
Maselli threw the javelin 177'4" at the Northeast-10's, good for a third-place finish. That was a personal best and an improvement over his 2019 finish by seven places. At the New Englands, he was 23rd overall and seventh among non-Division I competitors.
Maselli, who earned a 3.73 GPA as a finance major, also made the President's List five times and his involvement on campus included the Student Alumni Leadership Clun and the SAAC Executive Board.
