Grabmeier, Hurwitz among Top Performers as Bentley Women Open at AIC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Bentley University women's track and field team, in its first outdoor competition since 2019, opened its season at the American International Spring Invitational Saturday with the top performers including freshman Angie Grabmeier (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) and senior Sydney Hurwitz (Newton/Newton North HS).

Grabmeier, in her collegiate track debut, took first in the triple jump with her 34 feet, 3.5 inch distance good for sixth on Bentley's all-time list. She also cracked the program's all-time list in the long jump, moving to 13th with a jump of 15'4".

Hurwitz was second of seven in the long jump (16'10.25") as well as fourth of ten in the 100 meter hurdles (16.41).

Junior Samantha Bilodeau (New Ipswich, N.H./Mascenic Reg. HS) ran unopposed in the 5,000 meters, finishing in 19:42.34.

Junior Chase Davies (Marblehead/Marblehead HS) was third of seven in the long jump, her distance of 16'2.75" a new personal best by 10.5 inches. She was also seventh in the 100 hurdles (16.94). On Bentley's all-time list, she moved to sixth in the long jump and seventh in the hurdles.

As a team, Bentley was fifth with 41 points. Adelphi University (143.5) took first with Central Connecticut (106) second.

Next Sunday, Bentley will compete in a dual meet at Stonehill.
