Wegner, Pandolph Top Performers for Bentley Women at Carisella Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman Vanessa Wegner (Westborough/Westborough HS) and sophomore Brittany Pandolph (Tewksbury/Tewksbury HS) were the top performers for the Bentley University women's indoor track team, which opened its season Saturday at the Northeastern University Jay Carisella Invitational at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Wegner, in her first collegiate debut, was seventh of 40 runners in the 400 meters, posting a time of 1:01.84. Also in the 400, sophomore Christine Smith (Bloomfield, Conn./Northwest Catholic HS) was 15th with her time of 1:03.02 an indoor personal best.

Wegner and Smith also combined with senior Natalie Caldwell (Greenbrae, Calif./Redwood HS) and junior Andrea Crowley (Bourne/Bourne HS) for a time of 4:16.13 in the 4x400 relay. That was good for eighth among 14 participants.

Pandolph finished 11th of 32 in the shot with a throw of 35 feet, 4.5 inches, and also in the shot, freshman Brynnan Farrington (Shirley/Ayer HS) was 16th (32 feet, 7 inches).

Bentley will compete in the Reggie Poyau Invitational at Brandeis next Saturday.
