Johnson Shines for Bentley in Bridgewater State Bears Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Junior Keisha Johnson (Randolph/Randolph HS) had the top two finishes for the Bentley University women's track and field team on Saturday at the Bridgewater State Bears Invitational.

Johnson was first of five in the triple jump with a distance of 34 feet, 2.25 inches, and was second of seven in the long jump,clearing 15 feet, 6.25 inches.

Freshman Brittany Pandolph (Tewksbury/Tewksbury HS) had a solid meet in her collegiate outdoor debut, placing fourth of 12 in the javelin (116 feet, 11 inches) and seventh of 15 in the shot put (34 feet, 11 inches). Both performances were good for third on Bentley's all-time list.

Also in the field events, freshman Aubrey Batzinger (Wallingford, Conn./Lyman Hall)was third of 10 in the discus with her throw of 101 feet, two inches good for sixth on the program's all-time list.

Bentley dominated the top ten in both the 400 and 200 meter runs. In the 400, freshman Diana Thompson (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull HS) was fifth (1:06.25) and sophomore Bekah Wheeler (Winchendon/Murdock HS) was sixth (1:06.32). The top ten also included sophomore Andrea Crowley (Bourne/Bourne HS) in seventh (1:07.07), freshman Taryn Kershaw (Revere/Revere HS) in eighth (1:07.66) and freshman Christine Smith (Bloomfield, Conn./Northwest Catholic HS) in tenth (1:08.07).

Among 33 participants in the 200, junior Natalie Caldwell (Greenbrae, Calif./Redwood HS), freshman Anna Ribas (Westwood/Westwood HS) and Crowley, were seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively. They had times of 28.25, 28.53 and 28.69.

Ribas was also ninth of 22 in the 100 meters, with a time of 13.64 seconds, and junior Maddy McDonnell (San Francisco, Calif./St. Ignasius College Prep) was eighth of 21 in the 800 meters (2:35.49).

Bentley's next meet is the American International Invitational next Saturday.
