Varsell Moves to #2 in Bentley History in 800

BOSTON, Mass. -- Bentley University sophomore Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) turned in another strong performance Friday night while competing in the Boston University Valentine's Invitational at the BU Track and Tennis Center.

Varsell moved to second on Bentley's all-time list in the 800 meters, with her time of 2:16.82 trailing only the 2:15.74 posted by Suzy Walsh at the 1994 NCAA Division II Championships. She placed 29th of 139 in the 200, and her time was the second best posted in the Northeast-10 Conference thus far this season.

Freshman Brittany Pandolph (Tewksbury/Tewksbury HS) had a solid effort in the shot put, with her throw of 36 feet, 3 inches just a half-inch shy of her personal best. She placed 19th in the event, competing in a field of 37.

New PRs were established in the meet by sophomore Natalie Caldwell (Greenbrae, Calif./Redwood HS) in the 200 (27.97), freshman Anna Ribas (Westwood/Westwood HS) in the 200 (28.15) and sophomore Bekah Wheeler (Winchendon/Murdock Reg. HS) in the 400 (1:03.65).

Caldwell's time in the 200 and Wheeler's in the 400 were both the best recorded by a Bentley woman this year.

Bentley will compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships Thursday night at the Reggie Lewis Center.
