Bentley Earns Key Victory over Assumption, 5-2

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Bentley University women's tennis team earned a key 5-2 victory over Assumption on Wednesday afternoon. The win moved the Falcons into sixth place in the Northeast-10 standings.

The doubles point went Bentley's way as they won the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. Team captain Makena Romagnano (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) and junior Anna Lang (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) won the No. 2 match, over Cara McCormack and Isabelle Edwards by a 6-1 score.

In singles, Maria Mella (Santo Domingo, D.R.), Remi LeSage (Sarasota, Fla./IMG) and Adriano Hiraldo (San Juan, P.R.) were victorious to give the Falcons the points they needed to secure the win.

Mella got the better of Aimee Figgins in No. 2 by a 7-6, 6-4 score. Hiraldo defeated Caitlin Sze in No. 3 in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. And LeSage pitched a shutout over Elizabeth McGeer in No. 5, 6-0, 6-0.

Bentley will close out the regular season on Saturday at Southern New Hampshire. The match begins at 1:00 pm.
