WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University's Maria Mella (Santo Domingo, D.R.) was named the Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week on Monday.

Bentley took on Division I Holy Cross on April 8 in its only match of the week. Mella was victorious in the No. 1 singles match, 7-6, 6-3 over Holy Cross' Maddie DeNucci, a senior.

It's the first career Rookie of the Week award for Mella, who was named to the NE10 All-Rookie team in the fall.

Mella and the Falcons have won match left in their season, which is on Friday at Simmons.
