WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman Maria Mella (Santo Domingo, D.R.) was named to the Northeast-10 Women's Tennis All-Rookie team for her performances this fall for the Falcons.

Mella was Bentley's primary No. 2 singles player this fall. She was also apart of the No. 1 doubles pairing, along with sophomore Adriana Hiraldo (San Juan, P.R.).

In singles Mella earned wins over Assumption and Franklin Pierce. Against the Greyhounds she earned a three sets win, 3-7, 6-0, 6-2, to help Bentley to a 4-3 team win on Sept. 14. Her victory against Franklin Pierce was also in three sets, 2-6, 6-2, 10-7.

She and Hiraldo also helped lead Bentley to a 7-0 win over Saint Michael's on Sept. 26. The duo won their No. 1 doubles match by a score of 6-1.
