Chin and Matuty Win in Singles but Bentley Falls to Assumption
Worcester, Mass. – Junior Alessa Matuty (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) and sophomore Zoe Chin (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) won in singles, but the Bentley University women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 defeat to Assumption College on Wednesday.
Matuty, one of Bentley's captains this season, battled to a three sets win over Assumption's Valeria Sanchez in the No. 3 match, by a 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 score.
Chin got the better of Assumption's Jessica Crosby in No. 6, by a 6-1, 6-3 score.
That was Chin's second win of the day. In doubles, she and freshman Remi LeSage (Sarasota, Fla./IMG) combined for a 7-5 win in No. 3, over Sanchez and Crosby.
Assumption though won the No. 1 and No. 2 matches in doubles to take a 1-0 lead into the singles portion of the match.
Bentley will look to bounce back on Friday when they are scheduled to host Stonehill, the first of three straight scheduled home matches.
