Bentley Improves to 2-0 with 4-3 Victory over AIC
Ludlow, Mass. – The Bentley University women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 4-3 victory over American International in a Northeast-10 match on Sunday, played at the Ludlow Tennis Club.
The Falcons swept the doubles matches to earn the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead into singles. In singles play, Bentley won points from the No. 4-6 matches to secure the 4-3 overall victory.
In doubles the Falcons two team captains, Alessa Matuty (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) and Makena Romagnano (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany), teamed up for a win in the No. 1 match. They defeated AIC's team Meritxell Jimeno-Vicente and Jordyn Issac by a 7-5 score.
In the No. 2 match, sophomore Grace Bennett (Paxton, Mass./Wachusett) and freshman Libby Keefe (Lowell, Mass./Lowell Catholic) combined for a 6-3 victory over Melissa Feilen and Sophie Roberge.
In singles sophomore Anna Higgins (Andover, Mass./Andover) won in two sets in the No. 4 match, 6-3, 6-0 over Feilen.
With the win, Bentley improved to 2-0 both overall and in NE10 matches.
