Hetyei & Stowe Earn Northeast-10 All-Conference Honors; Falcons Face Stonehill in Playoffs Wednesday

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University sophomore Brittani Hetyei (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) and freshman Susan Stowe (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) earned All-Conference honors from the Northeast-10, as the Falcons prepare to face Stonehill on Wednesday in the first round of the Northeast-10 Women's Tennis Championship.

Hetyei was named third team All-Conference in fourth-flight singles. Stowe was chosen both third team All-Conference in fifth-flight singles and to the All-Rookie team. The All-Conference selections are based on Northeast-10 records only, and a player must have played at least 50 percent of their matches in a given flight to be considered.

Hetyei went 4-1 in NE-10 fourth-flight singles matches and was 6-3 in conference singles matches overall. It's the second straight year she has been named third team All-Conference.

Stowe posted a 4-1 mark in NE-10 fifth-flight singles matches was 5-1 overall during the regular season. She also went 4-2 in doubles during NE-10 matches, playing with both Lexie Hinrichs (Franklin, Mass./Ursuline Academy) and Rachel Petrini (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand).

As a team Bentley is preparing to open its Northeast-10 Championship campaign at Stonehill Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 pm. The Falcons went 7-5 during the regular season and enter the competition as the No. 6 seed. The Skyhawks went 10-2 and are the No. 3 seed.

Bentley, which comfortably qualified for the postseason by finishing two games ahead of New Haven and Assumption, dropped the regular season meeting to Stonehill. The Skyhawks feature two first team All-Conference selections in Kaitlyn Martin and Lorraine Smith, who both went undefeated in conference singles matches during the regular season.

The other first round match on Wednesday will see No. 4 seed Saint Michael's hosting No. 5 seed Southern New Hampshire. Merrimack and Adelphi are the top-two seeds. The Bentley/Stonehill winner will face Adelphi and the Saint Michael's/Southern New Hampshire winner will face Merrimack in the semifinals on Friday.
