Bentley Finishes Fourth at Gompei Invitational; Lang Sets School Mark in 100 IM

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Bentley swimming and diving teams finished in fourth at the Gompei Invitational after the third and final day of competition on Sunday.

With combined scores from the women's and men's teams, the Falcons amassed 3,490 points. Bryant University took first place, followed by WPI and Springfield.

Freshman Skyla Lang won the 100 IM to highlight the performances on the women's side on Sunday. She broke the school record in the 100 IM in the prelims with a time of 59.75.

Her time in the finals of 1:00.49 was the fifth fastest in that event in school history.

Senior Hilla Almog had strong performances in both diving events. She was second in the 3-meter dive finals with a score of 431.75. She was third in the 1-meter dive finals with a score of 399.90.

Senior Emma Hapkiewicz placed second in the 1650 free with a time of 17:18.96. That is an NCAA "B" cut time.

Senior Emily Blatt was third in the 50 breaststroke. Her time of 30.78 was the second fastest in that event in school history and just short of the school record of 29.55. Blatt had the previous second fastest time of 30.88.

Sophomore Lily Rice was eighth in the 200 fly with a time of 2:10.09

The Falcons have now completed competition for the semester. They resume on Jan. 9 at Saint Michael's.
