Gonzales Leads Bentley Women Past Brandeis, 188-99

WALTHAM, Mass. – As a triple winner, junior Dariana Gonzales (Stamford, Conn./Westhill HS) led the Bentley University women's swimming and diving team to a 188-99 road victory over Brandeis University Saturday afternoon.

Gonzales took first in the two backstroke events, turning in times of 1:01.16 in the one-meter and 212.55 in the three-meter. She also earned a win in the 200 individual medley (2:17.64).

Junior Mary Huminski (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) and freshman Hilla Almog (Wayland/Wayland HS) staged a battle in the two one-meter diving competitions. Huminski, with a 182.25, edged her teammate by 1.55 points in the five-dive event, and Almog, with a 283.25, got by Huminski in the six-dive event by 3.15 points.

Other double-winners for Bentley were sophomore Emma Hapkiewicz (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) in the 1000 freestyle (11:01.42) and the 500 free (5:19.72), sophomore Emily Blatt (Westford/Westford Academy) in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.41) and 200 breast (2:33.38), and junior Kate Galvin (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern HS) in the 50 free (25.18) and 100 free (55.27).

Senior Lucy Slowe (Millis/Millis HS) posted a winning time of 1:59.97 in the 200 free before leading off the Falcons' victorious 200 free relay. She teamed with Hapkiewicz, Galvin and Marissa Adamo (Hackettstown, N.J./Mount Olive HS) for a clocking of 1:42.16.

Bentley, 3-1, swims next on Saturday at Keene State.
