Diving Dominance Helps Bentley Defeat Saint Rose, 135-84

WALTHAM, Mass. – Outstanding performances in the diving events by freshman Hilla Almog (Wayland/Wayland HS) and junior Mary Huminski (Madison, Conn./South Windsor HS) helped the Bentley University women's swimming and diving teams defeat The College of Saint Rose, 135-84, Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center.

In the two one-meter competitions, Almog totaled 479.95 points with scores of 194.25 and 285.70. Huminski, the 2019 Northeast-10 Women's Diver of the Year, was right behind, totaling 465.55 with 181.45 and 284.10.

Senior Lucy Slowe (Millis/Millis HS) and junior Dariana Gonzales (Stamford, Conn./Westhill HS) each captured an individual event and participated on two winning relays. Slowe swam to victory in the 500 yard freestyle and Gonzales took first in the 100 free (55.25).

They combined with junior Jennifer Chen (Darien, Conn./Darien HS) and freshman Jordan Nuzback (Fairview, Pa./McDowell HS) for a winning time of 1:54.61 in the 200 medley relay, and with Nuzback and junior Kate Galvin (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern HS) for a Northeast-10 season-best 3:42.47 in the 400 free relay.

Other winners for Bentley were sophomore Emily Blatt (Westford/Westford HS) with a conference-best 1:10.06 in the 100 breaststroke, junior Marissa Adamo (Hackettstown, N.J./Mount Olive HS) in the 50 free (26.67) and sophomore Emma Hapkiewicz (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) in the 200 free (2:00.74).

Bentley, 2-1, returns to action next Saturday at Brandeis.
