Gonzales Shines as Bentley Bests Le Moyne, 157-121

WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior Dariana Gonzales (Stamford, Conn./Westhill HS) led off the Falcons' winning 200 yard medley relay team and was first to the wall in three individual events as Bentley University defeated Le Moyne College, 157-121, in women's college swimming action Sunday afternoon.

Bentley, which won 14 of 16 events to even its record at 1-1, was competing at home in the Dana Center pool since January 2020.

Gonzales' victories came in the 100 backstroke (1:00.01), the 200 back (2:10.74) and the 100 butterfly (1:01.19). She also combined with sophomore Emily Blatt (Westford/Westford Academy), freshman Jordan Nuzback (Fairview, Pa./McDowell HS) and junior Kate Galvin (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern HS) for a time of 1:52.71.

Her performance in the 100 back was one of five Northeast-10 Conference season-best times achieved by the Falcons. The others were recorded by Blatt in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.56), sophomore Emma Hapkiewicz (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) in the 500 freestyle (5:21.86), senior Lucy Slowe (Millis/Millis HS) in the 200 individual medley (2:15.60) and senior Rona Mejiritski (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green HS) in the 200 fly (2:12.73).

Double-winners for Bentley included Blatt (100 breast), Slowe (200 free), Hapkiewicz (1000 free) and junior diver Mary Huminski (Madison, Conn/Daniel Hand HS). Huminski swept the diving with scores of 253.10 from the one meter board and 242.45 off the three-meter.

Wrapping up Bentley's list of winners were the quartet of Hapkiewicz, Nuzback, senior Hanna Ryan (North Royalton, Ohio / Brecksville Broadview Heights HS) and Slowe with a time of 1:43.31 in the 200 free relay.

Next Saturday, Bentley will host Saint Rose at 1 pm.
