Pool Record in 800 Free Relay Finishes Bentley’s 27th Straight Win, 121-63 over St. Michael’s

WALTHAM, Mass. – A new pool record in the 800 yard free relay put the finishing touches on a 121-63 victory over St. Michael's College by the Bentley University women's swimming and diving team Wednesday afternoon at the Dana Center pool.

Bentley, which won all 13 events in its first competition in exactly a month, improved to 6-0 this season and extended its winning streak to 27 with the victory.

In the final relay, Bentley posted a time of 7:56.49 to win by about 12 seconds and break the pool record of 8:06.69, set by Assumption College back in 2010. Senior Paige MacNeil (Branford, Conn./ Branford HS) was joined by sophomore Lucy Slowe (Millis/Millis HS) and a pair of freshmen, Dariana Gonzales (Stamford, Conn./Westhill HS) and Kathryn Galvin (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern HS).

Each of those four also won an individual event during the meet. MacNeil took first in the 50 freestyle (26.57), Slowe captured the 200 free in 1:58.00, Galvin prevailed in the 100 free (55.59) and Gonzales' 2:07.95 in the 200 backstroke was the best recorded by a Northeast-10 Conference swimmer so far this season.

Bentley's only swimmer to win two individual events was sophomore Rona Mejiritski (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green HS). She swam the 400 individual medley in 4:51.52 and the 200 butterfly in 2:13.35.

The other individual winners for Bentley included senior Nora Reynolds (Troy, N.Y./Troy HS) in the 1000 free (11:43.75), senior Lea Guldemond (West Newbury/Central Catholic HS) in the 500 free (5:30.32) and senior Arianna Revelas (Snyder, N.Y./Nardin Academy) in the 200 breaststroke (2:34.10).

Freshman Mary Huminski (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) captured the one-meter diving in 270.22 and finished second to teammate Caroline Logozzo (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield HS) in a close competition in the three-meter. Logozzo, a senior, edged Huminski by 1.28 points with a score of 238.35.

Bentley will also be at home Sunday for a 1 pm meet against Connecticut College.
