Eight Members of Bentley Swimming & Diving Teams Earn NE-10 Weekly Honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Eight members of the Bentley University swimming and diving teams received weekly recognition from the Northeast-10 Conference this week for their performances in a dual meet sweep of Babson College.

Sophomore All-America Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) was the choice as NE-10 Women's Diving Athlete of the Week for the sixth straight week and eighth time this season, while the NE-10 Men's Diving Athlete of the Week was Bentley sophomore Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./ Tolland HS) for the third consecutive week and fourth time this season.

Freshman Dennis Witol (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt HS) was selected as the NE-10 Men's Rookie of the Week and Bentley also received the Men's Relay Team of the Week award. That quartet consisted of freshman Davis Wilson (Ransom Canyon, Texas/Lubbock HS), senior Steven Sylvia (Westerly, R.I./Westerly HS) and sophomores Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Senior HS) and Nick Toselli (Barrington, R.I./Barrington HS).

In addition, Bury and senior Amanda Le (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) were named to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll.

Mancini stayed undefeated this season by posting winning scores of 284.94 in the one-meter diving and 280.30 in the three-meter. Already in her career, the 2013 Northeast-10 Women's Diver of the Year has been recognized for weekly honors 15 times.

Bridge captured both diving events in the three-point win over Babson, with scores of 265.25 off the one-meter board and 258.70 from the three-meter. Both were season-best scores for him at the time, and he has since bettered them in a meet at Bridgewater State earlier this week.

In a meet where every point counted, Witol was third in the 1000 freestyle (10:50.36), the 200 individual medley (2:04.85) and the one-meter diving (150.80), helping Bentley pull out the 121-118 win. He earned nine points, including three in his first-ever diving competition as a collegian.

Bury and Toselli combined with Wilson Sylvia to win the 200 yard free relay at Babson with a season-best time of 1:28.55. The Falcons, down two points heading into the meet-closing event, needed a victory in the relay to take the meet and the quartet delivered.

Bury also finished first in the 50 freestyle (22.21) and was second in the 100 free (49.83).  Le finished first in both the 100 butterfly (a season-best 1:01.86) and the 200 individual medley (2:17.34), and also helped Bentley capture the 200 free relay in 1:44.01. She improved to 13-0 in individual races in 2014.

Bentley will be back in action Feb. 6-9 with the Northeast-10 Conference Championships at Southern Connecticut State.
