Kaduboski Named NEISDA Women’s Swimmer of the Meet; Samko & Danehy Also Honored

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Bentley University senior Anne Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS) has been named the 2011 NEISDA Women's Swimmer of the Meet after her outstanding performance over the weekend at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships.

Kaduboski was also presented with the Kay Fromer Award, which is awarded to the senior woman swimmer with the most career points in the NEISDA Championships.

Bentley head coach Mary Kay Samko was chosen as the Women's Coach of the Year for the third time and Falcon diving coach Rick Danehy was selected for the Charlie Batterman Award, as the Men's Diving Coach of the Year, for the fourth time.

Kaduboski, in her fourth and final NEISDA Championships, competed in seven events and came away with four gold medals (boosting her career total to 11) and three silver medals. She broke two meet records, with times of 2:04.01 in the 200 yard butterfly and 2:03.40 in the 200 backstroke, and three individual school records. She was also part of four relay teams that rewrote the Falcon record book.

Kaduboski, who'll be making her third straight trip to the NCAA Division II Championships next month, stood at the top of the awards podium in the 200 backstroke (2:03.40), the 400 individual medley (4:31.40), the 200 butterfly (2:04.01) and the 800 free relay (7.55.60). Her silvers came in the other three relays she swam (400 free, 200 medley, 400 medley).

In the finals, none of Kaduboski's individual races were close. She won the 400 IM by 10.85 seconds, the 200 back by 6.81 seconds and the 200 fly by 4.32 seconds.

Samko, previously the women's Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2003, led the Bentley women to the team championship for the seventh time in 10 years, the first since 2007. During the NEISDA Championships, the Falcons amassed 24 top-three finishes, including eight gold medals, and broke school records a total of 16 times in 14 events. Putting that into perspective, there were only nine swimming events that Bentley didn't set a school record.

That performance came on the heels of an outstanding season that saw Bentley finish the dual schedule undefeated (11-0) and finish second in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships.

Danehy, an Ashland resident, earned Men's Diving Coach accolades after having his divers record a first, a second and a fourth during the diving portion of the NEISDA Championships. He previously earned the honor in 2005, 2006 and 2008.
