Four Bentley Divers Honored Following NEISDA Championships

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Four members of the Bentley University diving team, including seniors Jon Andrews (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug Reg. HS) and Emily Travers (Brentwood, N.H./Exeter HS), have been honored following the diving portion of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships, held at Bentley this past weekend.

Andrews was named the Northeast-10 Men's Diving Athlete of the Week for the third time this winter and received the NEISDA Male Senior Diver Award, presented to the senior with the most career points in the annual meet.  Travers was the recipient of the Female Senior Diver Award from the NEISDA.

Junior Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) was chosen as the NEISDA Men's Diver of the Meet, and sophomore Abby Mathews (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) was recognized as the Northeast-10 Women's Diving Athlete of the Week for the third time this season.

Andrews, a 2009 Division II All-America, captured the NEISDA men's one-meter championship for the third time in four years, posting a score of 423.00 in his final competition as a collegian. His career resume in the meet also included a third in the one-meter in 2010, a second-place in the three-meter in 2008 and a fifth off the same board in 2009.

Travers, at this year's championships, was third off the one-meter board and fourth on the three-meter, with scores of 353.90 and 332.60, respectively. During her four seasons, she had two thirds and four fourths at the NEISDA Championships.

Walsh finished second in the three-meter diving this past weekend, with a score of 360.65, and his 353.35 earned him a fourth off the one-meter board.

Mathews had identical finishes to Walsh, a second on the three and a fourth on the one, and had identical scores on both, 351.20.

Travers has qualified for next month's NCAA Division II Championships off both boards, and Mathews is a qualifier on the one-meter, as is sophomore teammate Shelly D'Aleo (Enfield, Conn./ Suffield Academy).
