Women’s Soccer Visits Assumption on Tuesday and New Haven on Saturday as NE10 Play Begins

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley women's soccer plays its first Northeast-10 matches of the season this week when they visit Assumption on Tuesday at 7:00 PM and New Haven on Saturday at 1:00 PM.

NE10 play begins

After four non-conference matches to begin the season, the Falcons play their NE10 opener on Tuesday night at Assumption. These matches are the third and fourth of a scheduled four straight on the road. The first match at Franklin Pierce on Sept. 8 was postponed and they played at Saint Anselm on Sept. 13.

Last time out

Bentley dropped a 2-1 decision at Saint Anselm in their last game. Trailing 2-0, junior Gabby Vachon pulled one back in the 83rd minute, with Jillian Hendriksen getting the assist. With just over four minutes left Hendriksen and Vachon nearly combined for the equalizer when a cross sent in by Hendriksen wasn't controlled by the Hawks keeper. That allowed Vachon to get a shot on goal, but it was cleared off the line by a Saint Anselm defender.

Series history

Tuesday's match will be the 34th all-time between Bentley and Assumption. The Greyhounds lead the series 20-10-3. These teams met less than two weeks ago on Sept. 6 in Waltham in a non-conference match that ended in a 0-0 tie.

Bentley leads New Haven in the series 12-11-2 and has won six straight over the Chargers, including a 3-0 home win last season on Senior Night.

Looking at the opponents

Assumption is off to a 1-1-2 start this season. They were beaten by Adelphi 5-0 in their last match on Saturday. Amaia Astiasaran, Kate Carleson and Ashley Wenzel are all tied for the team lead in goals. Frida Larsson has started three of four matches in goal and has a 1-1-1 record.

The Chargers are 3-2 so far and are coming off a 2-1 win at AIC on Saturday. They host Adelphi on Tuesday before the Falcons come to town on Saturday. Riley Drosopoulos is the team's leading goal scorer and Caitlin Daley has started all five matches between the sticks.
