Bentley and Saint Anselm Battle to 1-1 Draw

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Sophomore Sydney O'Connor (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) scored a first half goal as Bentley and Saint Anselm battled to a 1-1 draw in a Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer match on Tuesday afternoon.

O'Connor, a second team All-Conference selection a season ago, scored on a well-taken strike from 15 yards out in the 15th minute.

Senior midfielder Brooke Jones (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) helped set the goal up with a nice lofted ball from midfield to O'Connor on the left wing. After receiving the ball O'Connor dribbled right, then cut back left to shake a defender before she unleashed a low shot that beat the Saint Anselm keeper to the far post.

The Falcons held that 1-0 lead into the 67th minute, until the Hawks found the tying goal off the foot of junior forward Olivia Gotobed.

Bentley had three shots on goal in the final 23 minutes, each saved by Hawks keeper Emma Hudson. The shots came from Lily Silva (North Grafton, Mass./Grafton), Bridget Gleason (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) and then Jones with a shot from distance in the final seconds.

Falcons goalkeeper Claire Ewen (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) made four saves.

Bentley's record goes to 3-3-3 overall and 2-2-1 NE10. The next match is Friday night at Franklin Pierce.
