WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Aidan Hopkins (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin) scored in the 84th minute, but No. 11 ranked Saint Rose improved to 7-0-2 on the season with a 3-1 victory over Bentley University on Saturday afternoon.
Hopkins scored off a throw-in by Sydney O'Connor and after gaining possession she did the rest. She fought off two Saint Rose defenders, dribbled in on a goal and as the Saint Rose keeper came out to challenge, she lofted a shot from eight yards out over her outstretched arms for the goal.
Saint Rose however had taken a 2-0 lead in the first half through goals by Madelyn Wania in the 18th minute and Lauren Amerena in the 27th.
The Golden Knights then added a third goal in the 54th minute from Janina Mueller, her third of the season.
The defeat snaps Bentley's two-match winning streak, but they will get a chance to bounce back on Tuesday afternoon when they visit Saint Anselm at 4:00 pm.
The Falcons' record goes to 3-3-2 and 2-2 NE10 on the season.
