Bentley Wins Second Straight, 1-0 over American Int’l

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior Brooke Jones (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) scored a 28th minute goal and the Bentley defense and goalkeeper Claire Ewen (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 win for the women's soccer team at American International on Wednesday night.

Jones scored her third goal of the season in the 28th minute.

Center back Jill Hendriksen (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke) sent in a free kick from about 30 yards out from the left corner. AIC initially headed the ball away into the deep right corner, but sophomore Bridget Gleason (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) tracked it down. After playing the ball back to a teammate, she received the ball back and sent a cross into the penalty area. Jones rose up in the six yard box to meet the cross and head it home for the goal and a 1-0 lead.

The assist was Gleason's third in two matches.

Ewen made three saves in each half to help the Falcons win their second straight match and third in four. It's her fourth career shutout and third this season.

They improve to 3-2-2 on the season and 2-1 in NE10 matches.

The team will be back in action on Saturday when they host No. 11 ranked Saint Rose at 3:30 PM.
