Bentley Drops 1-0 Decision at No. 23 Molloy

WILMINGTON, Del. – A 48th minute goal by Molloy's Lexi Verni was the difference as the Lions defeated the Bentley women's soccer team 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

An NCAA Tournament team last season the defending East Coast Conference champions, the Lions improved to 2-0 on the season after they defeated Adelphi 2-0 on Friday. They are ranked No. 23 in the United Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll.

Bentley's record goes to 0-1-1 after they tied with Wilmington University 1-1 on Friday.

Liliana Silva (North Grafton, Mass./Grafton) and Haley Bernhardt (Swampscott, Mass./Swampscott) led the Falcons with two shots on goal each. Silva was one of four outfield players to play all 90 minutes, with the other three being Jill Hendriksen (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke), Corinne Messier (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton), Brooke Jones (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury).

Sophomore goalkeeper Claire Ewen (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) made four saves in 90 minutes of action.

Bentley's next match is scheduled for Wednesday at 3:30 pm for their home opener against Franklin Pierce.
